BROWN ALUMINUM OXIDE

Brown aluminum oxide is an abrasive sand belonging to the electrocorundum group. It is produced by melting calcined bauxite as a reduced solution at high temperatures in electric arc furnaces. It does not contain iron and has a high hardness, can withstand high pressure, and is resistant to abrasion.

Technical Specifications:

  • Hardness: High

  • Pressure and abrasion resistant structure

  • Grain structure: Angular — sharply fractured grains provide effective abrasion on the surface

  • Heavy surface treatments with appropriate granulometries

Advantages:

  • Fast surface removal on steel, iron and heavy metals

  • Roughening of hard surfaces and preparation before painting/coating

  • Repeated use and long life

  • Low metal contamination (ferrous free)

Areas of Use:

  • Heavy industry steel constructions

  • Surface preparation for drilling, pipes, tanks, docks and heavy building constructions

  • Post-welding surface cleaning and roughening

  • Heavy duty before painting and coating — surfaces requiring high strength
