Sandblasting is the process of cleaning a surface with sand or sand-like materials. It is generally used for the protection, roughening or decorative purposes of metal, wood and glass surfaces. Sandblasting is carried out by spraying small particles onto the surface under high pressure. Sand, silica, aluminum oxide, glass beads, steel granules or other similar materials can be particles used in the blasting process. These materials are sprayed onto the surface using a special sandblasting machine or sandblasting gun. Particles sprayed under high pressure are used to remove dirt, rust, painted coatings or other unwanted substances from the surface. It can also be used to polish, roughen the surface and improve adhesion of paint or coating. Sandblasting is a widely used method in industrial applications, shipbuilding, automotive industry, metal, wood and glass processing. However, blasting should be done carefully and appropriate safety precautions should be taken due to its environmental effects and health risks.
